Expect Delays During Transport of Historic NASA Items Through Clay County
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office would like to alert our community to potential traffic delays that will occur tomorrow (May 24th). Our agency will assist with the safe transport of some historically significant NASA items (huge pieces of equipment from the shuttle program) to the items’ new home at the Wings of Dreams Aviation Museum located at Keystone Heights Airport (entrance in Bradford County). For more information about these items and the future display of them, please note the contact information below.

Contact: Bob Oehl, Exec. Dir. At (352) 256-8037 or (352) 219-2285 or Susan King at (352) 332-5297
Beginning at 9am on Friday (tomorrow) various areas along the route in Clay County will be affected and traffic delays should be expected. Please note the following route:
Hwy 17 (south of Green Cove Springs) traveling northbound to CR 220 on Fleming Island. West on CR 220 to College Drive to Blanding Blvd in Orange Park; Blanding Blvd south through Middleburg to SR 100 West in Keystone Heights; ends at the Keystone Heights Airport. The transport vehicle for these large items moves approximately 15-20 miles per hour so the transport will take a few hours.
CCSO Traffic Unit deputies will escort the transport the entire way to insure the safety of motorists. We ask for everyone’s patience as these large pieces of aviation and space travel history are brought through our area for public display.
