Pursuit Suspect Arrested by CCSO on Multiple Charges
The Clay County Sheriff's Office served a warrant today on 75-year-old Dudley Webb of Clay County for charges including Aggravated Assault with Intent and Fleeing/Eluding a Police Officer. Both charges are felonies and each carries a $50,000 bond ($100,000 total). He will likely bond out of our jail sometime this evening. He has no previous arrests in Clay County and responding/arresting officers still have no explanation for why he committed these crimes. He not only endangered his own life but also endangered the lives of innocent motorists, pedestrians and law enforcement. New information (that can be found in the arrest reports provided to local media outlets) includes the top speed at which he drove, his attempt to strike a deputy with his car (resulting in the Agg. Assault charge) and his ability to slow down to 25 mph in an active school zone (demonstrating that he was conscious of his surroundings). Despite his advanced age and illness, these are serious crimes for which he is held accountable.
