This afternoon, detectives from the Clay County Sheriff's Office arrested Larry Labay, Jr., a CCSO Detention Bureau deputy. Labay worked for the CCSO as a corrections officer in the jail for one-and-a-half years. At the time of his arrest, he was simultaneously terminated (fired) by Sheriff Beseler.
Both of the charges are narcotics related (possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernelia).
LaBay has been on administrative leave since late June when information about potential narcotics activity came to light. A warrant for his arrest was obtained following an investigation and he was arrested.
We are prohibited from releasing his home address, phone number and booking photo. That content has been redacted from the attached report.
