MEDIA RELEASE: Armed Robbery Suspects Sought in Clay County; GCSPD and CCSO Joint Investigation

Three men armed with firearms robbed the Hess Express store at 1010 SR 16 East in Green Cove Springs overnight (1am).

The Green Cove Springs Police Department responded and has obtained surveillance video that may be helpful in identifying the suspects. The suspects enter the store wearing red bandanas, hats/hoods and possibly ski masks to conceal their identity. However, their clothing and manner/style of walk may be recognizable to people who know them.

One of the suspects first forced the female store clerk to lie on the ground but then afterwards ordered her to open the register. The clerk was not harmed and the robbers fled the area with an unknown amount of cash and multiple cartons of cigarettes.

This case is similar (suspects and m-o) to another armed robbery that occurred in Clay County on 5/9/11 at the Hibernia Kangaroo store (6935 Hwy 17, Orange Park.) Video from both incidents, Hess Express and Kangaroo, are being provided today to media outlets so the public may be made aware and may call law enforcement with any information that may assist in ID’ing the suspects.
