PUBLIC INFORMATION ANNOUNCEMENT
Tip-A-Cop a Big Success for Special Olympians
The Special Olympics Tip-A-Cop event held this past Monday-Wednesday at the Fleming Island Longhorn was a big success. Every year, the goal is to have dozens of CCSO deputies, police department officers and agency civilian staff taking on waiter and waitress duties at the Longhorn Steakhouse. These volunteers worked a combination of both lunch and dinner shifts supplementing Longhorn’s regular wait staff. Every penny of every tip given to one of the law enforcement “waiters” goes directly to the local Special Olympics effort and benefits Clay County’s Special Olympians.
Special Olympics Coordinator Marsha Otti tallied up the tip totals for this year's event....and Clay County residents were more generous than ever! A new record was set....$5,484! This is nearly $2,000 more than collected at last year's event.
Many thanks to Longhorn for hosting the event each year and kudos to the volunteers and Special Olympians who worked so hard to make this year's event a huge success!
