PUBLIC INFORMATION ANNOUNCEMENT
Three Clay County Teens Arrested
Following a week of committing multiple burglary to autos (felonies) in the Middleburg area, three teenagers have been arrested. The detectives of the CCSO General Investigations Unit handled these cases.
These arrests, which combined cleared/solved fourteen total cases, serve as examples of how easy a target UNLOCKED cars are for the average criminal.
As we approach the end of the school year and the beginning of summer break, we would like to remind Clay County residents that if they like their belongings they should lock their cars. Incidents related to auto burglaries increase during the summer months historically.
This idea, as many of you know from past coverage, is the basis for our ongoing "Like It? Lock It!" public awareness campaign...and it never hurts to remind people that preventing this type of crime is as easy as locking the door or taking the valuables inside their homes when they exit their vehicle. I attached a copy of the hand-out card that we distribute at events, door-to-door, etc in communities across our county so you'll have the general information we use to educate our community.
