CCSO responds to Murder-Suicide in Argyle Area of Orange Park
Shortly before 8pm last night the Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting incident at a home located at 448 Summit Drive in the Argyle area of Orange Park. Resident Robert Williams (WM, DOB 8/15/1960) died from a gunshot wound at the scene. The suspect, Gregory Hood (WM, DOB 10/17/1969), left the scene in his car and drove to his home located at 1411 Heather Glen Lane, also in the Argyle area. Deputies arrived at that location after a brief search of the area and discovered the suspect, Hood, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No other persons were injured during this incident.
CCSO Homicide detectives learned that the suspect and his wife, Kimberly Hood, were in the process of divorcing. The victim and the suspect’s wife were dating and detectives believe Gregory Hood found out about it and targeted Williams for that reason.
All next of kin has been notified. Detectives are still in the process of finalizing the incident and homicide reports and they are not available at this time. Reports will be released once they are completed.
